"I lost... I lost Gwen My, um... she was my "MJ". I couldn't save her. I'm never going to be able to forgive myself for that. But I carried on, tried to... tried to keep going. Tried to keep being that... that friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, because I know that's what she would've wanted, but... at some point I just... I stopped pulling my punches. I got rageful. I got bitter. I just don't want you, to end up like... like me."
―Spider-Man to Spider-Man[src]

Peter Benjamin Parker[6] is the superhero known as the Amazing Spider-Man[2] or simply Spider-Man[4], is the son of Richard and Mary Parker. Orphaned at the age of seven[7], Peter was raised by his aunt and uncle over the course of the next few years. Parker's search for answers about the mystery of his parents and their deaths eventually drove him to investigating the establishment of Oscorp, having learned that their employee, Dr. Curt Connors, had been close friends with his father.

While at Oscorp, during the year 2013, Peter was bitten by a genetically enhanced Oscorp Spider, becoming a cross-species hybrid and gaining several superhuman powers, such as enhanced speed, strength, and the ability to stick to walls. Though Peter's new talents fascinated him, his ultimate failure to learn anything more about his parents only increased his obsession further: he took to inordinately studying his father's briefcase and the notes and items contained within, and even personally visited Connors. Peter learned from Connors that his father had worked with him in the field of cross-species, in the hopes of curing several paramount disabilities, such as Connor's lack of an arm, and that his father had been the one to breed the Oscorp Spiders, disappearing shortly afterwards and taking the research he had used with him. Though Peter's new friendship with Connors and the attempts to find a remedy soon yielded successful experimental results, Peter began to neglect his relationships with his loved ones, ultimately leading Ben's death at the hands of a shoplifter. In the hope of eradicating likewise crimes occurring across his neighborhood, Peter decided to put his powers to use as a vigilante, dubbing himself Spider-Man. Spider-Man's efforts drew him into conflict with the New York Police Department and their captain, George Stacy, with the captain considering him a dangerous anarchist who was interfering in their operations. However, during this time, Peter had become infatuated with the captain's daughter, Gwen, and the growing attraction that had been building between them soon became a relationship, with Peter revealing his secret to her. The dispute with the police soon grew worse when Curt Connors tested the apparently successful formula which he and Peter had worked on on himself, mutating into a giant Lizard and wreaking havoc across New York. Guilt-ridden over his role in the birth of the Lizard, Peter took it upon himself to stop him, eventually learning that Connors intended to mass disperse the formula over New York City to turn the citizens into Lizards and cause an apocalypse. Peter managed to thwart the Lizard's plan and cure, and subsequently incarcerate Connors, with the aid of Gwen and her father, although Captain Stacy lost his life in the process. Having promised the dying captain that he would leave Gwen out of his future conflicts, Peter intended to recluse himself from Gwen completely, but soon realized his responsibility to be there for her, letting her know that he still intended to be with her. Now backed by the police and committed to continue his role as a vigilante, Peter emerged as New York's primary protector.

Over the course of the following year, Peter continued to fight crime in New York, becoming a sensation in the media and a subject of much debate for New York's citizens. Gwen continued to assist Peter in his exploits, with the two even designing a simpler suit and more efficient web-shooters for him to use as a superhero. However, Peter began seeing visions of George Stacy everywhere he went, constant reminders of the promise he had made the dead captain to stay away from Gwen. After taking down the Russian Mob, the guilt-ridden Peter finally confided in Gwen about his hallucinations, with the two breaking up as a result. In spite of this, Peter and Gwen would be forced to work together once more with the emergence of supervillain Max Dillon, an Oscorp employee who had fallen into a tank of genetically mutated eels in an accident at the Tower and gained electrical powers as a result. Peter would also garner his own personal problem with the return of his childhood friend Harry Osborn in the wake of Norman Osborn's death: having learned from his father of a fatal disease he had inherited, Harry became convinced that the only cure to the ailment was Spider-Man's blood. Knowing from his fight with Curt Connors that cross-species genetics could have disastrous effects, the heartbroken Peter was forced to refuse Harry under the guise of Spider-Man, leaving both devastated. These events also re-ignited Peter's obsession with Oscorp, leading him to discover that his parents had disappeared along with their research as a result of Oscorp's plan to sell it to foreign military for use as bio-weapons, and that the human DNA that his father had used to enhance the Spiders had been his own- the reason why Peter had received his powers. Realizing that he did not want to lose anyone else, Peter reconciled with Gwen, telling her that he loved her no matter what, and that she would always be his path. However, their romantic reunion was short-lived; desperate to heal himself, Harry Osborn broke Max Dillon out of prison, having learned that Oscorp had salvaged the venom from their Spiders before being forced to destroy them in the wake of the conflict with Connors.

Harry made a deal with Dillon, bartering for the latter's freedom in exchange for helping him retrieve the venom. After ensuring that Harry could obtain the venom, Dillon left to take over Oscorp's Power Grid, going on a rampage and attacking the civilians. With Gwen's assistance, Peter managed to cause an overload in the Grid, overcharging Dillon's form and destroying him. However, Harry had concurrently injected himself with the venom, accelerating his condition instead of curing it and sending him into a violent frenzy. The vengeful Harry attacked Peter and Gwen, and in the subsequent battle, Gwen was killed, leaving Peter devastated. Peter started visiting Gwen's grave every day, unable to move on and giving up on his duties as Spider-Man over the next five months, leaving New York without a protector and causing crime to sky-rocket. After listening to the advice of his Aunt May and watching a recording of a speech uttered by Gwen on the day of their graduation, Peter realized that Gwen would have wanted him to keep on going, and made his return as Spider-Man just in time to confront the former leader of the Russian Mob, Aleksei Syksevitch, who had broken out of prison using a rhinoceros machine.

Though he now intended to continue his heroism, Peter eventually succumbed to his inner rage. Overwhelmed by his feelings of anger and hate, Parker descended down a darker path and stopped pulling his punches, admonishing himself for what he was doing, but lacking the willpower to stop himself. Gwen's death would continue to haunt him, and Peter soon began believing that he could never forgive himself.

10 Years later, Peter was pulled into an alternate universe due to a botched spell cast to make everyone forget the identity of that universe's Spider-Man. Soon deducing what had happened to him, Peter learned that alternate versions of Curt Connors and Max Dillon of his universe had also been dragged there, taken from points before their respective defeats. Peter collaborated with that universe's Spider-Man and another alternate Spider-Man from another alternate universe to fight and cure the villains who had been sent there, and finally brought himself personal closure when he managed to save his counterpart's girlfriend from suffering the same fate as Gwen. When the villains were finally cured and the crisis was resolved, Peter was sent back to his native universe as a much happier man.

Further Crime-Fighting

Sometime after his broke up with Gwen, Peter was hired by J. Jonah Jameson to work at The Daily Bugle and worked as a photographer, taking pictures of himself as Spider-Man. A few months after the fight with the Lizard, Peter regularly used his web-shooters to apprehend and fight criminals, with support from the New York Police Department. With Spider-Man gaining attention from the media, Gwen Stacy suggested that he make a new costume and web-shooters; however, Peter didn’t see the need. One day, Spider-Man used the web-shooters to capture two criminals and learned of a robbery in an abandoned warehouse by the shipyard in Brooklyn.

Intruiged, Spider-Man swung off to investigate. At the warehouse, he managed to capture two criminals before realizing he had walked into a trap. Spider-Man was then pinned down by two thugs, but used his web-shooters to spray webbing in their eyes and blind them, swinging up to the upper levels of the warehouse. Standing on some railings, Spider-Man noticed a centrifuge below him just as it turned on and a thug fired at him, making him lose his balance. Using his web-shooters, Spider-Man managed to stop his fall, hanging a few meters above the centrifuge. Spider-Man then used his web-shooter to fire at a thug, just as the thug fired at him. While he managed to stop the thug, the bullet shattered Spider-Man's web-shooter and the web he was dangling from, causing him to plummet into the centrifuge.

Due to his increased metabolism, he managed to survive, though his costume was badly torn. Spider-Man then used his last, barely functioning web-shooter to apprehend the final thug as the police arrived to take them into custody. Peter then began designing a new costume and web-shooters, as Gwen had suggested.[9]

Peter can't believe it, and Aunt May said she couldn't believe it either at first, but she said Richard was always so mysterious, that she eventually accepted it. This section needs a rewrite

Peter uses information left behind by his father to locate the video message Richard left. At a secret train station, Richard explains that he had to leave New York because he wasn't willing to go along with Norman Osborn's plans to use what they had created for biological weapons with his research. Parker horrificlly saw the video, knowing Norman Osborn was the man responsible for Richard's death.

Battle at Oscorp's Power Grid

"You're too late, Spider-Man. I designed this power grid. Now I'm gonna take back what is rightfully mine. I will control everything. And I will be like a god to them."
"A god named Sparkles?"
Electro and Spider-Man[src]

Peter and Gwen are suddenly interrupted by a citywide blackout. Peter immediately knows that it is Electro, as they see bursts of electricity coming from an Oscorp Power Plant. Peter swings Gwen back down to the streets, telling her he is going after Electro. When Gwen asks him how he'll beat Electro again, Peter says he does not know, that he couldn't create a webbing that blocks electricity. Gwen then tells him to try a car battery, which she then resumes to boast about how she is smarter. Because of her insistence to come, Peter is forced to web Gwen's hand to the hood of a police car, telling her he loves her. This causes Gwen to yell, "Peter!" in the middle of a crowd. Luckily, no one hears her.

Spider-Man face-to-face with Electro

Spider-Man swings to the Oscorp Power Plant in time to see Electro. Electro says that once he absorbs all the electricity, he'll be like a god. Spider-Man replies by saying, "A god named Sparkles?", which enrages Electro. Spider-Man attempts to put Electro out again with water. However, Electro avoids it, telling Spider-Man the same trick won't work twice.

Spider-Man battles Electro

A fight ensues, with Electro showing a greater deal more of power thanks to having absorbed most of the plant already. Spider-Man is caught by Electro in his electricity, and just as Electro prepares the final blow, Gwen arrives and smashes into Electro with the same police car Spidey had webbed her to. When he sees her, Spider-Man flips out and tells her that this isn't a game and that she is in grave danger. She tells him she's not leaving because she knows the grid specs and can shut down the system.

Spider-Man reluctantly agrees and tells Gwen that he can overcharge Electro like a battery, which will cause him to explode.  He informs to turn it on when he says so, no matter what.  As soon as he sends her away to the grid specs, Spider-Man sees Captain Stacy, which is a bad omen of things to come. Electro bursts through Spider-Man's vision of Captain Stacy and attacks him.  Spider-Man begins bobbing and weaving around electric blasts, frustrating Electro.  Spider-Man plans to web together the destroyed generators and somehow get Electro to connect to it, then overload and defeat Electro.

Spider-ManInShock

Spider-Man is electrified by Electro

As the battle between Spider-Man and Electro resumes, Spider-Man maneuvers around electric blasts and manages to web Electro up temporarily.  He takes the opportunity to web the generators back together.  Just as he prepares to tie them together, Electro breaks free and holds Spider-Man steadfast in a powerful charge of electricity.  Gwen looks on in worry as Spider-Man struggles to fight the electricity.  He finally manages to tie the generators together and yells, "Now Gwen, Now, do it now!!!".  Gwen presses on the button, which reactivates the plant.  The electricity surges through the web, through Spider-Man (his suit is rubberized, so he's protected), and into Electro. Electro overloads and then explodes.  Spider-Man lies on the ground, sore, exhausted, and relieved.

Gwen's Death

Spider-Man sees the Green Goblin

Spider-Man breathes a sigh of relief, believing the chaos to be over. He even jokes around with Gwen by saying they could probably still catch her flight. However, at that moment, a mysterious figure flying an Oscorp glider crackles menacingly and flies into view. Spider-Man, who doesn't know who it is, senses danger and warns Gwen to stay back. The figure flies around the plant and lands between Spider-Man and Gwen. The stranger licks his lips and grins at Spider-Man. Spider-Man begins to see who this stranger really is. The stranger is Harry, who has changed drastically after he injected himself with the venom of one of Richard Parker's spiders.  Harry now has gruesome, yellow teeth and some of his hair has fallen back, along with his face being an ugly green due to his veins popping out.

Harry turns around and sees Gwen.  He looks back at Spider-Man and manages to put two and two together.  He then growls," Peter".  Peter, who is dumbfounded and shocked, asks Harry what has he done to himself.  Harry immediately blames Peter, saying that he betrayed him by not giving him his blood.  Peter protests and says that he was only trying to protect Harry.  Harry then says that Spider-Man doesn't give hope, he only takes it away.  "And now I'm gonna take yours", Harry growls.  Peter immediately tells Gwen to run, but Harry still manages to grab her before she can run. Peter swings hurriedly  after them, begging Harry to stop this.  They eventually come to the top of the clock tower near the plant. Harry hovers menacingly above Peter, with Gwen's life hanging in his two malevolent hands. Gwen tries to talk to Harry, but Harry snaps back that Harry is now dead. Peter begs Harry to let her go and fight him instead. Harry reluctantly agrees, but then just drops Gwen.  Peter leaps up and grabs her and breaks her fall as they crash through the top of the clock tower.  He asks if she is alright and she says no.  Right then, a bomb drops by them both. Peter takes the brunt of the blast and lowers Gwen down as he prepares to face off against his best friend.

As Peter battles the Green Goblin, their battle begins tearing away pieces of the Clock Tower.  Gwen is soon knocked off, but Peter catches her, and struggles as he tries to keep a loose clock hand from slicing his web-line supporting Gwen and while he's being choked by Harry. Suddenly, the Clock hand slices the web and Gwen falls.  Peter knocks Harry away and makes a desperate leap for Gwen.  As he shoots out his web, he fails to catch her in time as she slams her head on the floor.  Peter then holds Gwen in his hands in despair. Peter took the Goblin Glider to kill Harry, but decided to spare his life as a hero would not do that[10]. Harry was then brought to Ravencroft Institute. Gwen's death caused Peter much distraught and gave up the mantle of Spider-Man.

Multiversal Adventure

Brought to an Alternate Universe

Peter-Three Portal

Spider-Man in a new universe

"Wow. String theory... Multidimensional reality... And matter displacement. All real?"
―Spider-Man to Michelle Jones and Ned Leeds[src]

One day, during the year 2024, Spider-Man appeared suddenly in an alternate reality (Earth-199999) of New York City. Using his scientific knowledge of string theory and the Multiverse, he deduced that he was in an alternate universe. Unknown to him, alternate versions of Lizard and Electro (Lizard being from a point prior to his defeat and Electro being from seconds before his death) were transported to this universe as well. As Spider-Man navigated the new place, an Inter-Dimensional Portal to the Leeds Residence opened in front of him, where he saw Ned Leeds and Michelle Jones calling out for their universe's Peter Parker.

Peter Parker (Amazing Spider-Man)

Spider-Man unmasks himself

Spider-Man went through the portal completely suited up, frightening Leeds' grandmother. As he unmasked, Spider-Man introduced himself as the Peter Parker of his universe (Earth-120703). He then asked if the Multiverse was real, realizing that he had been right in his studies. Leeds mentioned magic and Spider-Man asked if magic existed as well, in which Jones tried to change the subject.

Spider-Man Meets Peter-Two

Spider-Man meets his older self

Still not convinced that he was really Spider-Man, Jones asked him to prove it. Spider-Man crawled on the ceiling to help Leeds' grandmother remove cobwebs in the corner, causing Jones and Leeds to realize that they had summoned an entirely different version of Spider-Man. Jones urged Leeds to continue searching for their Peter Parker by opening another portal. Instead, they summoned another alternate Peter Parker (from the Earth-96283 universe), who was much older. Spider-Man confronted his older counterpart, who realized that he was not Leeds' and Jones' Parker, and shot a web at him, only for the Earth-96283 Parker to shoot a web back and perform a flip, proving that he was another Spider-Man.

Spider-Man deduces where his alternate self is

The Earth-96283 Parker explained that he had seen Leeds and Jones on the news and sensed that their universe's Peter Parker needed help. As the Earth-96283 Parker urged Leeds and Jones to think of where their friend would go to clear his mind, Spider-Man admitted that for him, it was the Empire State Building because of the view, while the Earth-96283 Parker preferred the Chrysler Building.

2 Peter Parkers

Spider-Man and Spider-Man see their alternate self

Jones and Leeds deduced where their Parker would be and brought them to the Midtown School of Science and Technology, where they found their Parker on top of the roof, crying and in despair over the death of his aunt May. Spider-Man attempted to console his younger alternate self (Earth-199999 Spider-Man), explaining that he was familiar with loss, but the native Spider-Man stopped him, too distraught over his own mistakes to listen or care. The native Spider-Man confessed that he no longer wished to save anyone and simply wanted them to return to their universes.

Spider-Man talks about Gwendolyne Stacy

Before the Earth-199999 Spider-Man could use the Macchina di Kadavus to send them home, the Earth-96283 Parker explained that he lost his uncle Ben Parker because of his own actions and witnessing the death of Ben's supposed killer didn't ease the pain. In conjunction, to help the Earth-199999 alternate self cope and realize that he was not alone, Spider-Man confessed his own guilt of not being able to save his girlfriend, Gwen Stacy, admitting how her death made him rageful, bitter, and violent. Both Spider-Man and the Earth-96283 Spider-Man explained to the Earth-199999 Spider-Man that they did not want him to lead a path of darkness like them, encouraging him to honor his aunt's final wish by curing all the universe-displaced people.

After managing to convince his alternate self, the group decided to retreat to one of Midtown's laboratory rooms in order to engineer cures for their past enemies. Parker decided to develop Lizard's anti-serum, having made one before, while the Earth-96283 Parker created the one for Green Goblin (an alternate version of Green Goblin from the Earth-96283 Parker's universe). The Parkers, Jones, and Leeds together engineered cures for Electro, Green Goblin, Lizard, and Sandman (the latter being from the Earth-96283 Parker's universe), and then devised a plan to bring their adversaries all to one spot using the Macchina as a lure. Before leaving, Parker asked the Earth-96283 Parker if he had his suit, which he did underneath his civilian clothes. He was then amazed to see he can shoot organic webs and wondered how that was possible.

"No, but I thought you were Peter-Two."

―Spider-Man, Spider-Man and Spider-Man[src]

Spider-Man and his counterparts then travelled to the Statue of Liberty, using an Inter-Dimensional Portal opened by Ned Leeds. While the Earth-199999 Spider-Man deliberately broadcast their location, Spider-Man noticed that the Earth-96283 Spider-Man had back issues and shared that he did, too. He then asked if he could crack it, which the Earth-96283 Spider-Man agreed to let him, and he cracked the Earth-96283 Spider-Man's back to ease his back pain, relating to what he was feeling. With time to spare, Spider-Man then asked how the Earth-96283 Spider-Man was able to naturally shoot webs without the need for Web-Shooters.

Early Setbacks (Amazing Peter)

Spider-Man reunites with Electro

As the Earth-199999 Spider-Man asked what kind of villains they had faced besides the current ones, the Earth-96283 Spider-Man discussed having fought a black symbiote. The Earth-199999 Spider-Man then told them about fighting a purple alien in space and on Earth, much to both of their surprises. Spider-Man expressed a desire to fight aliens of his own, feeling that he was "lame" for fighting men like the Rhino, prompting the other Spider-Men to assure him that he was amazing in his own way. The three Spider-Men suddenly sensed that Electro had arrived, followed by Lizard and Sandman. Spider-Man faced Electro and attempted to obtain the cure from the native Spider-Man but failed to coordinate well with his counterparts, leading to several early setbacks.

Liberty Island

As they regrouped, Spider-Man and the Earth-96283 Spider-Man both announced that they had never worked as a team and didn't know how. The Earth-199999 Spider-Man took command due to his experience with the Avengers, although Spider-Man and the Earth-96283 one were unaware of what the Avengers were as they didn't exist in their home universes, and thought they were a band name.

Lizard & Amazing Spider-Man (2024)

Spider-Man reunites with Lizard after 11 years.

The Earth-199999 Spider-Man urged them to trust their Spider-Sense, and the three decided to coordinate their attacks by focusing on one villain at a time, as well as naming each other, by Peter-One, Peter-Two, and Peter-Three. Spider-Man was listed as Peter-Three. The group then swung together as Spider-Men with a new spirit of teamwork. Spider-Man attacked Lizard, while Peter-Two (Earth-96283 Peter) attacked Sandman, and Peter-One (Earth-199999 Peter) attacked Electro.

Returning to battle, Spider-Man retrieved Sandman's cure, passing it on to Peter-One to pass off to Peter-Two, while he continued to fight off against Lizard on his own, eventually webbing him up with his web fluid while he decided to descend at the top of the Statue towards Electro, with his cure in hopes of curing him.

Upon reaching at the top of the Statue, Spider-Man and Peter-Two one attempted to steal the Arc Reactor from Electro but were overwhelmed by his electricity powers. They were saved by an alternatr version of Otto Octavius (from Peter Two's universe), who swapped the Arc Reactor with the cure, depriving Electro of his powers and his insanity. Spider-Man then spoke with Electro, who had been returned to his normal self as Dillon, who lamented that he would return to being a nobody as no one recognized him in their universe. However, Spider-Man assured Dillon that he never was a nobody in their universe and he had noticed him. Dillon then told Spider-Man that he had hoped he had been black though, wondering if there was a black Spider-Man out there, in which Spider-Man agreed could be possible.

Spider-Man talking to Doctor Strange

Afterwards, Doctor Strange arrived and was introduced to Spider-Man and the Earth-96283 Spider-Man by the native Spider-Man. Before they could talk further, Green Goblin suddenly arrived, attacking them with Razor Bats, and stealing the Macchina di Kadavus from Strange. When Strange retrieved the Macchina, all Spider-Men noticed a Pumpkin Bomb inside it and became alarmed. It detonated, destroying the Macchina and unleashing the unstable spell, which caused a dimensional rift in the Multiverse to open.

Gwen Peter MJ

When Peter saved MJ, it remembered him of his failure to save Gwen.

This action also toppled the Statue, causing Michelle Jones to fall off the scaffolding. When the native Spider-Man leaped to catch her, Goblin knocked him aside, forcing a shocked Spider-Man to jump down and save her himself. Redeemed for his failure to save Gwen Stacy when she died in a similar way, he became emotional but soon composed himself.

As dawn broke, Spider-Man watched in horror as the Earth-199999 Spider-Man faced off against Green Goblin and violently beat him down. Before the Earth-199999 Spider-Man could deal the fatal blow, however, the Earth-96283 Spider-Man intervened, but was promptly stabbed by Goblin. As the Earth-96283 Spider-Man managed to survive, Spider-Man threw the Earth-199999 Spider-Man the cure, which the Earth-199999 Spider-Man injected Goblin with, restoring his sanity as Norman Osborn and vanquishing his Goblin alter ego.

Spider-Man tended to his Earth-96283 counterpart, who was not mortally injured as he had been stabbed before, as the Earth-199999 Spider-Man helped Doctor Strange fix the spell by modifying it so that the universe would no longer remember him. The three Spider-Men embraced and exchanged goodbyes.

Strange then cast the spell, returning all the universe-displaced to their home universes with him putting a peace sign up to his Earth-96283 counterpart before departure. As it can be assumed that Spider-Man was from the present time in his universe, he should be sent back to the original timeline of the Earth-120703 universe.

The Death of George Stacy (Earth-120703)

Spider-Man mourning the loss of George Stacy is recorded as a Canon Event

As Spider-Man 2099 was teaching Miles Morales about the concept of a Canon Event, and how it is a constant throughout each universe within the Spider-Verse, footage of Peter Parker was presented that showed him at the death of George Stacy and how his death is a Canon Event.

Additionally, O'Hara had previously mentioned how the incident that occurred in Earth-199999 which was caused by Doctor Strange and Spider-Man caused a turbulence within the Spider-Verse, an incident that Parker participated in.[13]

Personality

"I couldn't save her. I'm never going to be able to forgive myself for that."
―Spider-Man[src]

Peter Parker had all the qualities of a 17-year old teenage crime fighter; shy, smart, broody, aggressive, sarcastic, troubled, awkward, and intelligent. Peter never truly got over his parents leaving him and then dying in an unfortunate plane crash, he possesses a scientific curiosity and is considered something of a geek at his school which made him a target for the local bully, Flash Thompson. This incarnation of Peter put more emphasis on the angst that a teenager would have. Peter had a tendency to use humour as a defensive mechanic, a trait that was only amplified when he became Spider-Man using sarcasm and wittiness before and during his fight with criminals.

However behind this naturally upbeat demeanou Peter also possesses a tragic and lonely side, brought on by the immense huilt if the death of the people he held close, most specifically his Uncle Ben who's killer Peter met and actually let walk free simply to spite the owner of a convenience store. Another contributing factor for his guilt was his crush, Gwen Stacey's father dying at the hands of The Lizard while trying to save Spider-Man and with his dying breath he asks that Peter keep his daughter of his vigilante activities which he fails to honour and this causes PTSD and even hallucinations. What proved to be a final straw for Peter was the woman he loved, Gwen Stacy died in his arms during a fight with The Green Goblin and for a few months he hung up being Spider-Man but eventually returned when the city was under threat.

Peter also had a vengeful side to him, specifically before he truly become Spider-Man he used his newfound powers to search for the criminal who killed his Uncle Ben and presumably planned to return the favour however it quickly evolved into something more righteous. This was also shown when he humiliated the bully Flash in front of his entire basketball team. After getting his newfound powers form Oscorp, Peter had difficulty controlling them and was unintentionally destructive which was shown when he destroyed his bathroom, a football goal, a basketball net and the front door. He also took his time to torment a car thief that he thought could've killed his uncle, and even intended to kill him at one point even though he didn't need to.

Peter was also something of a poor liar, every night he would return home with different scars and would tell a ridiculous story to cover it up. Over the course of the first and second film Peter eventually became obsessed over finding out what happened to his parents and if a third was ever released it would have been about him getting over Gwen's death.

Although he retained most of his overall qualities, Peter was shown to be immensely depressed over his failure to save Gwen, even hinting that he resorted to killing criminals in his bitterness and rage. He also showed to be self-loathing, to the point of calling himself lamer than his other counterparts, having fought Rhino while the other two both fought aliens. However, this changed when his older variant repeatedly told him that he was amazing and not to have a low opinion on himself. After saving MJ, Peter finally overcame his depression due to redeeming himself for not being able to save Gwen. When he returned to his universe, he was notably more happy and content with himself.

Spider Physiology: After being bitten by a genetically engineered spider, Peter Parker developed a number of superhuman abilities; the bite triggered numerous body-wide changes within Parker, granting him superhuman strength, speed and agility, toughened flesh, the ability to adhere to surfaces and a supernatural spider-sense;

  • Superhuman Strength: As a result of the spider's bite, Peter possesses the proportionate strength of a spider; affording him considerable superhuman strength, far superior to that of any ordinary Human. Peter's muscles are stronger and more efficient; he is shown to be able to easily overpower, lift, and toss normal humans, pull apart guns, destroy his alarm clock by merely hitting it, shattering the backboard of a basketball hoop at school, and doing the same to his front door glass panel when he slammed the door shut, swing at high velocities on a rope or web, hold a van with one hand while hanging from a web, throw a football hard enough to dent a goalpost, exert enough force to prevent a bus from crashing into two bystanders, rip a fire hydrant out of the ground with his webbing, and catch a falling police car (as well as other cars with his webbing). He has restrained The Lizard, swing around and weaponize a manhole cover, and poke a hole in his own webbing (which is 10 times the tensile strength of steel and could pull jets). His strength also allows him to jump higher and farther than a normal human, easily capable of jumping from one building over a street to the next. Spider-Man's strength is great enough to lift 18.5 tons.[14]
Spider-ManInShock

Spider-Man withstanding Electro's attacks.

  • Superhuman Durability: Peter's body is physically tougher and more resistant to injury than the body of a normal human; after being affected by the modified spider bite, peter’s muscles and flesh had become tougher and stronger. Peter has endured falls from hundreds of feet in the air, slash wounds to the chest, gunshot wounds, the shock from a taser, high voltage electric shocks, as well as high velocity impacts such as being smashed into brick walls, with only minimal injuries and discomfort.
  • Superhuman Speed: Peter is able to run and move at superhuman speeds, faster than any regular human; on-foot he can easily outpace normal humans, and keep up with accelerating vehicles, however he is able to better traverse by web-swinging. Peter was able to quickly take down multiple armed officers in a matter of seconds, and outmanoeuvre other enhanced individuals; such as the Lizard and Harry Osborn.
  • Superhuman Agility: Peter’s agility, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to tremendous superhuman levels; he is able to easily run, move, jump, and climb, as well as perform advanced physical acrobatic and gymnastic feats. Peter’s agility, flexibility, and acrobatic prowess is superior to even the most accomplished circus aerialists and acrobats, being akin to that of a spider; he is able to perform high jumps, somersaults, and flips with ease.
  • Superhuman Stamina: Peter's advanced musculature produces fewer fatigue toxins during physical activity than an ordinary human; he is able to exert himself in a superhuman capacity, and for considerably longer than a normal Human. Peter is also able to continue to function, despite considerable injury; such as when he had been shot in the leg, and had to swing across the city in order to engage the lizard in combat.
"Good reflexes."
Curt Connors[src]
SpiderManDodgesBullet

Spider-Man dodging a bullet at close range.

  • Superhuman Reflexes: Peter's reflexes operate so fast that with the assistance of his Spider-Sense, he is able to easily evade gunfire even from close range. His reflexes are roughly 35 times faster than that of a regular human.
"Just shake it off, it's just your bones, your muscles, and your organs."
―Spider-Man, recovering from his battle against Electro[src]
  • Accelerated healing factor: Peter's metabolism is greater thus allowing him to rapidly heal faster than normal humans. He may also be more immune to toxins and alcohol and drugs or could rapidly lose their effects quicker. It is unknown if his healing is fast enough to affect his aging. He healed from the slashes that were on his chest and a gunshot wound to his leg without medical attention.
  • Superhuman senses: Peter's senses appear to be heightened, especially when used in conjunction with his spider-sense. However, his sight appeared to be unchanged after the spider bite, as he still had to use his glasses, he later presumably stops wearing contacts throughout most of the first film. However, he has used vibrations to sense potential enemies much like most real spiders.
    • Superhuman Hearing: Peter is able to hear any danger, via spider sense while he'll hear that it also may warn him of any danger.
    • Superhuman Balance: Peter is able to perfectly balance on any object no matter how small or narrow with little effort even with two fingers.
    • Spider-Sense: A tingling sensation in Peter's skull warns him of danger, where it is coming from and how to avoid it noted by a subtle "thunk" that sounds like a combination of someone hitting a bass drum once immediately followed by a high pitched bell ringing sound. It seems likely that the stronger the tingling, the more imminent and threatening the danger is and that Peter can ignore it through intense concentration, and if he is exhausted or distracted it can lose some effectiveness. This power is passive and not fully controlled by Peter. His Spider-Sense is stronger than his counterparts, as it was able to detect danger from long distance’s as it detected Max in Times Square when he was absorbing electricity.
Amazing Spider-man 07

Parker glimpsing his new powers.

  • Wallcrawling: Although not explained at all, it's most likely like his mainstream and Ultimate counterparts where Spider-Man's exposure to the mutated spider venom induced a cerebellum-wide alteration of his engrams resulting in the ability to mentally control the flux of inter-atomic attraction between molecular boundary layers. This overcomes the outer electron shell's normal behavior of mutual repulsion with other outer electron shells and permits the tremendous potential for electron attraction to prevail. The mentally controlled sub-atomic particle responsible for this has yet to be identified. This ability to affect the attraction between surfaces is so far limited to Spider-Man's body and another object, with an upper limit of several tons per finger. This ability appears to be consciously used. Although can be activated by stress or altered states of consciousness as seen twice when he awakens from slumber.

Abilities

"He's one of Midtown Science's best and brightest."
Gwendolyne Stacy[src]
  • Genius-Level Intelligence: Peter is very smart, specifically in engineering, chemistry and physics. His uncle Ben, of his own admission, stopped being able to help him with his homework when he was 10. He is smart enough to design a computer-activated door lock, perfect his father's webbing formula and to construct working mechanical web-shooters. He also apparently solves a formula that is key to creating the formula that mutates Curt Connors into the Lizard. He also had a perfectly-solved Rubik's Cube on his desk.
  • Expert Combatant: Using a mixture of his superhuman strength, speed, agility, reflexes, equilibrium, Spider-Sense, and Web-Shooters, Peter is able to utilize a devastating acrobatic fighting style that makes him a formidable opponent and allowed him to easily take down thugs, cops and even the more physically powerful Lizard. His fighting style also appears to incorporate professional wrestling techniques, as seen when he used a Frankensteiner on a car thief.
"I'm swinging here!"
―Spider-Man[src]
  • Master Acrobat: Due to Peter's superhuman physical powers, he easily surpasses normal acrobats as he is able to perform somersaults, flips, spins, and cartwheels effortlessly.
  • Skateboarding: Before the genetically-altered spider bite, Peter is a very skilled skateboarder and skated everywhere he went.
Spider-Man-TASM2

Equipment

  • Web-Shooters: After getting his powers, he mysteriously bought Oscorp's Bio-Cable and incorporated the cartridges into his homemade web-shooters.
    • Web Fluid: The web fluid, developed by Oscorp, is a shear-thinning liquid, virtually solid until a shearing force is applied to it, rendering it fluid, whose exact formula remains unknown, but originated from the very enhanced spiders that bit him. The web line’s tensile strength is estimated to be 120 pounds per square millimeter of a cross-section.
  • Spider-Man suit: Using his knitting skills, Peter crafts a suit, made from mostly spandex, that would allow him to be mobile but would keep his identity hidden. However, since the suit is mostly made from spandex, it does not offer much in terms of protection as it can easily be torn by any type of sharp object that comes in contact with it.

Trivia

  • "With great power comes great responsibility" is a very famous quote from the Spider-Man franchise, first introduced by the narrator in Spider-Man's debut issue of Amazing Fantasy. This line is often quoted in the video game but is not heard in the film.
  • Only four people know Spider-Man's identity; Curt Connors, Gwen Stacy, George Stacy, and Harry Osborn.
    • Ironically these people have either died over the course of the film series or are (currently) imprisoned.
  • Parker is a fan of the film Rear Window, as seen by a poster in his room.

Behind the scenes

  • The Spider-Man suit that Peter wears in the first movie and game is unlike any other Spider-Man suit seen before, although similar to his classic red and blue.
    • In The Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Man wears a suit made especially for the film that includes Web-Shooters that are not modeled on any previous design.
