Sergei Kravinov, known by his callsign Kraven the Hunter, is a Russian-born Australian bounty and game hunter who appears as an antagonist in both The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and The Sinister Six: Part 1 and Part 2. An associate of Norman Osborn and his inner circle at Oscorp Industries, he lived in the outbacks of Africa and would secure animal specimens to provide test subjects for their Cross-Species Genetics project, and in return was provided a steroid formula that boosted his strength and mental faculties when he has already pushed himself past an average man's peak, eventually contacted by Osborn to come to the States in New York City to procure a blood sample of the only successful Cross-Species Hybrid: Peter Parker, aka the superhero Spider-Man.

Joining the villainous Sinister Six, he would pursue and challenge the webslinger, becoming his enemy and a target, with assistance from his teammates Mysterio and Rhino before the team formed in full.

Trivia[]

  • The only cross-species shown to be killed by him are Scorpion, Iguana and Nattie. How The Rhino and Vermin managed to not get killed is unknown.
  • Kraven was slated to appear in the now cancelled movie The Sinister Six, as a member of the titular team. However, later reports stated that Kraven would also receive a film of his own that would serve as an interquel set between The Amazing Spider-Manand The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Plot details indicate that Sergei Kravinov would have been among the many shady associates of Norman Osborn (alongside Rajit Ratha, Donald Menken, and Gustav Fiers), and would have been enlisted by Osborn to pursue Spider-Man as he recognized his powers as a result of Richard Parker's cross-species project, believing that Spider-Man's blood could hold the cure to retroviral hyperplasia. Kraven would come into conflict against Spider-Man and would have successfully apprehended and captured him, taking blood and tissue samples for Osborn. Much like his son Harry would do a year later, Osborn would have the blood synthezized into a serum to cure himself, but the serum would end up transforming him into the actual first Green Goblin (dubbed King Goblin from certain sources) and his ensuing fight with Spider-Man would show him undergoing the same degenerative breakdown Harry did and lead to his defeat, and Kraven would retrieve him, leading to his sickly state in the second film. The working title for this film would have been The Amazing Spider-Man Presents: Kraven the Hunter.
